A Weekend in Sault Ste. Marie

A Weekend in Sault Ste. Marie

Sault Ste. Marie had always intrigued me, and this trip was the perfect opportunity to explore the city’s charm. From the historic Ojibway Hotel by Wyndham to delicious stops like Oh Crepe & Coffee, my stay was filled with delightful experiences and a bit of fun at the casino!

Staying at the Ojibway Hotel by Wyndham

The Ojibway Hotel sits in the heart of Sault Ste. Marie, rich with history and elegance. My room was comfortable, with a cozy bed and beautiful views of the surrounding area. The hotel’s old-world charm blends perfectly with modern conveniences, offering the best of both worlds. I found the location to be ideal—just steps away from local shops and attractions, including the casino.

The staff was welcoming, and despite a couple of minor setbacks (like no housekeeping during my stay), I enjoyed the convenience of being close to everything. There was a warm, nostalgic feel to the hotel that really captured the essence of Sault Ste. Marie’s history.

Casino Fun

One of my favorite stops was the Kewadin Casino, located just a short ride from the hotel. It was a lively atmosphere, and while I didn’t hit the jackpot, I still had a fantastic time at the MIPARACON. It’s the kind of place where the energy is contagious, and the staff made it even more enjoyable.

A Delightful Stop at Oh Crepe & Coffee

One morning, I ventured out to Oh Crepe & Coffee, a local gem that I absolutely fell in love with. The cozy café offered a wide range of crepes, both sweet and savory, and their coffee was a much-needed pick-me-up. I opted for the Apple Turner Crepe with an iced latte, and the combination was heavenly! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and I couldn’t resist snapping a few photos for Instagram (it was that picture-perfect).

Exploring the Town

When I wasn’t at the casino or indulging in crepes, I spent my time wandering around Sault Ste. Marie. The town has a unique blend of historical landmarks and modern attractions. Walking along the river and exploring the local shops was a peaceful way to spend the afternoons.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a getaway that combines history, relaxation, and a bit of adventure, Sault Ste. Marie is the perfect spot. My stay at the Ojibway Hotel provided the perfect home base for exploring, while Oh Crepe & Coffee added a touch of sweetness to my mornings. Whether you’re a history buff, a foodie, or someone who loves trying their luck at the casino, Sault Ste. Marie has something for everyone. I can’t wait to visit again!
