Movie Review: Bonhoeffer

Rating: 7.5/10 for execution, 10/10 for relevance
I had the privilege of attending an advanced screening of Bonhoeffer on November 18, 2024, hosted by Cinemark. From start to finish, the entire theater was silent—a testament to the film's emotional weight and thought-provoking narrative.
The film delves into the life and legacy of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German pastor and theologian who courageously resisted the rise of Hitler and the horrors of the Holocaust. It succeeds in capturing the urgency of moral action against oppressive regimes, with scenes that are hauntingly resonant with issues facing America today. It is a stark reminder of the consequences of apathy and the cost of standing up for what is right.
While the subject matter is powerfully compelling, the execution occasionally faltered. Some pacing issues detracted from the overall impact. However, the film’s relevance to contemporary struggles against extremism and injustice makes it a must-watch.
Bonhoeffer will be released on November 22, 2024, in Cinemark theaters. Don’t miss this thought-provoking film that reminds us of history’s lessons and the power of standing up for what is right.
